Adoption ProcessReady to adopt a Ragdoll?
STEP ONE:
Submit a Kitten Application
At Petteo’s Ragdolls, you must submit a kitten application to be considered for adoption. New kitten applications open once a litter has been born and they reach at least 8 weeks of age. To stay up to date with when kitten applications open, please subscribe to my email list below. My email list will be the first to hear when I am accepting new kitten applications.
STEP TWO:
Reserve Your Perfect Kitten
If your application is selected for adoption, you will be given the opportunity to reserve the kitten you were matched with. However, In order to reserve a kitten, a €500 deposit is required. This deposit will be deducted from the final kitten cost. Deposits are non-refundable. Since, I wait until 8 weeks of age for adopters to pick their kitten, All money towards the kitten cost must be paid at least 14 days prior to the kitten’s go home date (before neutered/spayed).
STEP THREE:Sign the kitten Agreement
After you reserve your kitten, I will send an adoption contract to be electronically signed by myself and the kitten purchaser. This contract must be signed at least 10 days prior to the kitten’s go home date. This contract includes my 2 year health guarantee against genetic diseases as well as other conditions of sale.
* Please read our conditions of sale, before you purchase a kitten.
STEP FOUR:Prepare for Your New Kitten’s Arrival
By the time you reserve your kitten, he or she will be ready to come home to you in about 8 weeks (at a minimum of 14-16 weeks of age). This gives you approximately 2 months to get ready for the arrival of your new kitten.
Make sure you are ready for the pick-up or delivery of your kitten. I do offer shipping (Dublin Area, Ireland). Or hire a pet flight nanny to bring the kitten to you. People from other countries may apply for my kittens, but they still must arrange the kittens delivery themself.
Start getting all your kitten supplies ready for when your kitten comes home. Please check out my bottom page for information about caring for your kitten.
Book an appointment with a veterinarian. Start looking for a veterinary to take your new kitten to for a health exam. Many veterinarians have busy schedules, so I suggest booking an appointment at least 10 days before your kitten’s go home date which is at 16 weeks of age. Your kitten must be seen by a veterinarian within 72 hours of you taking possessions of the kitten.
Ragdoll Cat Breed Kitten Care
The best way to acclimate a new Petteo Ragdoll kitten to your home is to choose a bathroom or a small area where there is no where for the kitten to hide. Set up food, water, and litter in the room for when the kitten arrives. Leave the kitten in this small area for at least a few hours. Take the kitten out as often as you want, but keep them on your lap while petting them to make them feel safe.
Once you are sure your kitten is eating, drinking, and using the litter box correctly, then you can slowly allow them to explore the rest of the house. You should repeatably take the kitten back to the area with its litter box to make sure it knows its location.
Be patient with your new kitten. It can take a few days for kittens to settle in and feel safe in their new home.
Introduce other pets in the household gradually. Ragdolls typically are fearless and love everyone, so it shouldn’t take long for them to become accustomed to interacting with other home pets. However, remember every cat is different. Some may take longer than others.
